Senior Full-Stack PHP Developer with Java Experience

Our customer is Europe’s leading health, sport, and leisure group, with 130 clubs – 100 clubs in the UK, 20 across the Republic of Ireland and mainland Europe, plus one Asian club.Clubs provide the perfect destinations to stay fit and healthy as a family. Facilities include state-of-the-art gyms, heated indoor and outdoor pools, top-class racquet facilities, well-equipped group exercise studios, and luxurious spas.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience
- PHP 7-8.x, OOP, SOLID principles
- PHP frameworks (Symfony or Laravel or Laminas)
- Java 17/21, Spring framework will be an advantage
- REST API design and development
- ORMs (Doctrine / Eloquent)
- SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and database optimisation
- Git, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar)
- Docker, Kubernetes (basic usage and troubleshooting)
- Experience working with microservice architecture and distributed systems
- English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take ownership to resolve customer-reported bugs/feature requests in accordance with SLAs and change management protocols
- Reproduce issues that cannot be resolved without a code change, identify their root causes, and modify code to eliminate defects
- Modify existing software code using standard software development and project-specific practices and test its correctness
- Analyse software code for compliance with coding standards and performance requirements
- Ensure that changes to the software code do not conflict with the technical and business requirements of the product
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and mentor junior team members
- Approve technical requirements for software with stakeholders
- Analyse variants of software requirements implementation; evaluate their time consumption and workload
- Support the L1/L2 team by helping them understand how supported software works
- Create and update documentation and instructions on supported systems to help the support team work more efficiently
- Participate in customer meetings and effectively communicate project status with customers
- Ability to “get things done” and deliver results under minimal supervision
