ELEKS Software Engineering and Development Office is looking for a Senior Python Developer in Ukraine.

ABOUT PROJECT

Our client is building and integrating a solution for a large-scale mission-critical data platform.

REQUIREMENTS

7+ years of hands-on commercial experience with Python in production environments
Strong knowledge of Python fundamentals and the standard library, including concurrency, threading, multiprocessing, and asynchronous I/O
Experience designing and developing service-oriented or microservice-based architectures
Strong SQL and PostgreSQL knowledge, including transactions, locking, isolation levels, indexing, and query optimization
Solid understanding of database and distributed-system concepts, including OLTP vs. OLAP, ACID, CAP, consistency, idempotency, and failure handling
Experience building secure, production-grade APIs
Hands-on experience with Redis, asynchronous workers, and message brokers
Practical experience with Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, logging, monitoring, and performance profiling
Strong system design skills and readiness to discuss architectural decisions during the technical interview
Ability to work independently, solve complex engineering problems, and clearly explain technical decisions
Upper-Intermediate or higher English proficiency

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with PostGIS, GeoPandas, geospatial data pipelines, or Geo OLAP workloads
Experience with real-time or event-driven systems
Familiarity with MongoDB, FastAPI, Kubernetes, JavaScript, or React
Experience developing mapping, logistics, intelligence, or other mission-critical systems
Hands-on experience with Django or Django REST Framework

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, develop, and integrate Python services within a large-scale mission-critical situational-awareness platform
Build secure, production-ready APIs and backend components using suitable Python frameworks
Design reliable data-processing workflows for transactional, analytical, and geospatial workloads
Work with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Redis, and analytical or NoSQL data stores
Implement asynchronous and event-driven processing using workers, queues, and message brokers
Address concurrency, data consistency, idempotency, and service-failure scenarios
Integrate OAuth2-based authentication and external identity providers
Maintain automated tests, observability, Docker-based environments, and CI/CD pipelines
Participate in system design, architectural decision-making, performance optimization, and production troubleshooting
